A Higher Level
In order to take our lives to the next level we must realize that the same pattern of thinking that has gotten us to where we are will not get us to where we want to go. Dreams without work accomplishes nothing. If you aren't doing anything to accomplish your goals, the Holy Spirit isn't doing anything either. So it is said that a ship resting in the harbor cannot be steered. So the Holy Spirit cannot guide us if we are not doing anything. He needs us to move so that he can turn us in the right direction.
Decisions / Choices
What we become tomorrow is a result of the decisions that we make today. Everyday we choose, many times and in many ways, what the quality of our lives will be.
During Life's Journey
Our lives seldom move in a straight line or unfold in the way we pray to God they will. So we doubt and fear and give our power to panic, because we believe only what we see. But even when our world seems to be falling apart, beneath the chaos lies a divine purpose and perfect plan. The open doors and greater rewards God is urging us toward awaits us, but they are hidden beyond our view of understanding.
As Frederic Douglas observed, we want the bountiful rain but not the thunder, the treasures of the ocean but not the awful roar. But all this is life and all that life serves up is good. This all God, and just the experience we need to step up to greatness.
You didn't stumble unto this planet, but you were preordained. The solution to what ever challenges we face is always the same. Don't give your power to panic. Stand firmly in the faith that God rides on the heavens to help you and know that things fall apart, so God can give you something better and make more of you.
Gifts / Abilities & Talents
God gives us many gifts, abilities and talents, but He will not develop these talents for us. It is our responsibility to develop these talents for ourselves. It does not matter how well or how hard you pray, sing or shout. God will not develop your abilities for you. You have to do this yourself. The late Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "It is as wrong for man to think that God will do for a man what a man can do for himself."
The Consequences of Choices
Our life is a gift from God. What we do with it is our gift to God. For life is essentially a matter of choices. What we are today is the result of the choices that we made yesterday. Each choice that we make unleashes a chain of events that are unstoppable and must play out it's course until finished.
We must ask God to help us make good choices.
